Summer Bridge Program 2008
COME AND GET A JUMP START ON YOUR
COLLEGE EDUCATION
A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS PERSONS TO BECOME BETTER PREPARED FOR THEIR
HIGHER EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AT ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY.
Student
Support Services here on the campus of Arkansas State University ~ Jonesboro is
pleased to announce “Bridging the Gap” Summer Bridge Program. This
program will be held August 21-22, 2008 and is designed to introduce incoming or
nontraditional students to the resources needed for success in college and to
introduce them to Arkansas State University with a personal touch.
To be considered for the Bridge
program, a student must meet the following conditions:

U.S.
citizen or national or meet residence requirements for federal student aid, and
·
have a need for academic support.
In addition, a student must meet at
least one of the following criteria:
·
Be a first-generation college student (neither parent has
earned a baccalaureate degree), and/or
·
meet income guidelines, and/or
·
be an individual with a documented disability.
The
Bridge program is a free program and students who will live on campus in the
fall will be able to move in to their assigned room that evening of the 21st.
The only costs incurred by students are for miscellaneous expenses (snacks,
personal items, etc.).
Once a student is accepted into the
Summer Bridge program, he/she remains in the SSS program until graduation. The
mission of SSS is to provide participants with academic and support services in
a caring environment that seeks to ensure their successful completion of a
baccalaureate degree at ASU. SSS services are free and include but are
not limited to advising, counseling, tutoring, mentoring, supplemental
instruction, workshops, and cultural events.
